Harrison, New Jersey, is a suburb of Newark. The Hudson County community has a population of approximately 14,000. Residents enjoy quick access to New York City via PATH train and to three major international airports.

Harrison Township was established in 1840, and it was named after Pres. William Henry Harrison who was elected in that year. Pres. William Howard Taft, while campaigning for re-election, coined Harrison's motto, "The Beehive of Industry." The slogan is still in use today. Harrison, with its expansive waterfront and rail lines, was ideally suited to trade and manufacturing. Edison Lamp Works, RCA, Otis Elevator and Crucible Steel were just some of the major companies that established operations in Harrison. The importance of Harrison industry was highlighted during World War II when commuting workers would more than quintuple the population by day. In the subsequent decades, Harrison transitioned to offering more service sector jobs, and the residential areas expanded.
